Can buyers pay the fees instead of me?
Yes. For tickets and for tables separately, you choose whether buyers cover the fees or you do.

On this page
Yes. Every card sale carries two fees: Stripe's processing fee and CardMap's 2.5%. You decide who pays them, and you decide separately for tickets and for tables.
The two choices
You cover the fees. Buyers see your price and pay exactly that. The fees come out of your payout. This keeps prices round: a $10 ticket is $10.
Buyers cover the fees. The fees are added to the price, and buyers see one all-in price everywhere: on your event page, on the floor plan and at checkout. You keep your full price, so a $100 table pays you $100.
| Line | You cover the fees | Buyers cover the fees |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer pays | $100.00 | $105.87 |
| Stripe processing (est.) | −$3.20 | Paid by buyer |
| CardMap fee (2.5%) | −$2.50 | Paid by buyer |
| Your payout (est.) | $94.30 | $100.00 |
Stripe's standard rate in the US and Canada is 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment. Premium and international cards can cost a little more. Sales tax is not included here.
Tickets and tables are separate switches
Many organizers keep admission round and let vendors cover the fees on tables, or the other way around. Each switch only affects its own kind of sale:
- The tickets switch applies to admission tickets.
- The tables switch applies to tables, booths, table add-ons and table invoices.
Where to change it
Open your show in the event manager, go to Money, then Policies, and find Who pays the fees. Each choice shows a worked example at your own prices. Only people with finance access can change it.
Changing the setting affects new sales only. Orders already placed keep the price they were charged.
What buyers see
When buyers cover the fees, the price they see already includes them. At checkout the fees are listed on their own line, so nobody is surprised by a total that's higher than the price they clicked. Sales tax, if you collect it, is always shown separately.
