Setting up payouts with Stripe
Connect a Stripe account so card sales are paid to you. It takes about ten minutes, and free shows don't need it.

On this page
CardMap pays you through Stripe, the card processor behind many online stores and ticketing sites. You connect a Stripe account once for your organization, and every paid show you run sends its card sales there.
You only need this to sell paid tickets or tables. Free shows don't need Stripe at all. Your show can be published before you connect; paid sales switch on once Stripe is set up.
Before you start
Have these ready. It takes about ten minutes:
- Your country. US or Canada. This can't be changed later, and it sets your payout currency.
- Your legal name, date of birth and address. Stripe is required by law to verify who gets paid.
- An ID number or photo ID, if Stripe asks. In the US this is usually the last four digits of your SSN. If Stripe can't verify you from that, it asks for more.
- A bank account for payouts, in your account's currency.
- A business website or description. Your CardMap show page link works if you don't have a website.
If you run shows as a registered business, also have the business name and tax ID (EIN in the US, Business Number in Canada). If you run them as an individual, choose Individual or Sole proprietor when Stripe asks.
Step by step
- In the event manager, open Finance, or choose Set up payouts on your show's setup checklist.
- Pick your country, then choose Set up payouts.
- Stripe opens. Create your Stripe login and fill in your details. Stripe asks for everything it needs in one go, so you shouldn't be sent back for more later.
- When you finish, Stripe sends you back to CardMap.
Already have a Stripe account for your business? Choose Connect it instead to link it without re-entering anything.
After you submit
CardMap shows where your account stands:
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Stripe is reviewing your details | Everything's submitted. Verification usually takes a few minutes, and the page updates on its own when it's done. |
| Finish setting up payouts | Stripe still needs something. The card lists what's missing; choose Continue setup to pick up where you left off. |
| Payouts active | You're ready. Card sales go straight to your Stripe account. |
If you closed Stripe partway through, nothing is lost. Continue setup resumes from where you stopped.
Common questions
Who can set this up? The owner of the organization. Other team members can see the Finance page but can't connect or change the Stripe account.
Why does Stripe need my ID? Every payment company must verify who receives money. CardMap never sees or stores your ID number; it goes to Stripe only.
Can I use one Stripe account for two organizations? No. Each CardMap organization needs its own Stripe account.
I picked the wrong country. Stripe locks the country when the account is created, so it can't be edited. Contact us before you take any sales and we'll sort it out with you.
